I would rather die of passion than of boredom

I would rather die of passion than of boredom

Happy Monday Highflyers!

I love this quote from Van Gogh: “I would rather die of passion than of boredom.” There’s so much to be said for being passionate about what you do, at work and in every area of your life. If you’re passionate about one or many things, there’s no time (or room) for boredom.

My hobbies, such as photography and writing, provide me with huge amounts of inspiration, and I can spend absolutely hours in my spare time engrossed in the things I love doing.

What are you most passionate about?

Have a great week!

Change is inevitable but personal growth is choice

Change is inevitable but personal growth is choice

Happy Monday Highflyers! I love this quote by Bob Proctor, “Change is inevitable but personal growth is choice”.

Change happens to us all, whether we want it to or not. We can’t control change. The only thing we can control is our response to change.

Personal growth, on the other hand, is something we can have more control over – we can choose how we want to grow, which areas of our lives we’re going to grow in, and then acquire the skills to make it happen.

Which aspect of your personal growth are you choosing to work on this week? Have a great week!

The true sign of intelligence is not knowledge but imagination

The true sign of intelligence is not knowledge but imagination

Happy Monday Highflyers! Albert Einstein said, “The true sign of intelligence is not knowledge but imagination.”

Anyone can acquire knowledge, but true creativity and imagination are innate. I believe we can train ourselves to become more imaginative – it’s about giving our mind time and space to think, to mull over and make connections. I also think it requires that we trust our thoughts and don’t censor them until they become more fully formed.

It’s a challenge to be imaginative in a hectic, noisy space. Create some peace and quiet for yourself and see where your imagination leads you.

Have a great week!

Well done is better than well said

Well done is better than well said

Happy Monday Highflyers! I love this quote by Benjamin Franklin – “Well done is better than well said.” It’s all about getting stuff done, rather than just talking about it.

As marketers, we can have all the ideas in the world, but if we don’t get the important things done and deliver the results expected of us, we’re not adding value.

In the same vein, there’s the “gonna’s” and “wanna’s” in the world. The people who are “gonna” do this and “wanna” do that. Don’t be that person! Be the person making important things happen.

What are you going to get done this week?

Believe and act as if it were impossible to fail

Believe and act as if it were impossible to fail

Happy Monday Highflyers! “Believe and act as if it were impossible to fail” said Charles Kettering.

This is a great mindset to have, both professionally and personally – it’s far better than convincing ourselves that we’re going fail. Beginning with the attitude that we are going to succeed gives us confidence and motivation, and helps to generate momentum, which in turn generates smalls wins, then bigger wins.

The other positive aspect of having this mindset is that it’s contagious. If you’re upbeat, positive and acting as if it were impossible to fail, it will rub off on your family and colleagues. What are you going to focus on believing and acting as if it were impossible to fail this week?

Have a great week!
